Cruisin’ the Coast: Gearing Up for Next Year’s Ride in Style

Cruisin' the Coast | 1920 Model T | 1930 Model A | Classic Cars

Every fall, the Mississippi Gulf Coast rolls out the red carpet for Cruisin’ the Coast, an eight-day celebration of all things vintage and classic cars. It kicks off the first Saturday in October and cruises all the way to the following Sunday, with events spanning from Bay St. Louis to Biloxi. Think car parades, live music, 50s-themed parties, and thousands of classic rides gliding along the coastline. I had to miss it this year due to some medical challenges, but rest assured, y’all—I’ll be back next year, ready to hit the road in style!

The Dream Machines: A Model A & a Tin Lizzie

For next year’s Cruisin’, I’m dreaming big. If the weather plays nice, you just might see me cruising along the coast in a 1930 Model A. It’s a real beauty with a sleek body, a rounded hood, and plenty of chrome. It looks like something straight out of The Great Gatsby, with that elegant 1930s vibe. And let’s be real, half the fun will be planning the perfect outfit to match the car—lace gloves, pearls, and maybe a cloche hat if I really want to commit.

Now, if I can find someone brave enough to drive a stick shift, I’ll switch it up and hop into a 1920 Model T, also known as the “Tin Lizzie.” This ride is the OG of the automobile world, with narrow wheels, a boxy design, and just enough quirks to keep things interesting. But here’s the thing—my left foot and right hand? They aren’t exactly in sync. So unless someone can handle that gear shift, the Model T may have to sit this one out.

50s Parties & Rockin’ the Coast

Cruisin’ the Coast isn’t just about the cars—it’s also about the 50s-themed parties! Thankfully, I’ve already got a few dresses in my closet that are ready to swing, shimmy, and twirl. Whether it’s a sock hop or just a night under the stars, there’s always a reason to get dolled up and dance the night away. The music, the atmosphere, and the nostalgia make it a time-traveling experience for everyone who joins.

Why You Shouldn’t Miss It

Even if you aren’t a car fanatic, Cruisin’ the Coast offers something for everyone. There are car shows, live music, swap meets for those who love hunting for treasures, and some of the best food along the coast. Thousands of visitors roll into town, and the whole coast comes alive with excitement. Whether you’re looking to spot a rare classic ride or just enjoy a day at the beach with great company, this event is one you don’t want to miss.

Planning for Next Year

If all goes well, I’ll be ready to roll next October with my classic ride(s) in tow—fingers crossed I find a stick-shift pro to help with the Model T. Either way, I’ll be cruising the coast, soaking up the beach breeze, and making up for lost time. And, of course, I’ll be attending a 50s party or two, because who can resist a night of vintage music and dancing?

Conclusion

Cruisin’ the Coast is more than just a car show—it’s a celebration of community, history, and good ol’ Southern fun. Whether you’re into classic cars, great music, or just love a good time, there’s something magical about this event. And y’all better believe that next year, I’ll be out there, making waves with my vintage wheels and carefully chosen outfits.

So y’all mark your calendars—Cruisin’ the Coast is a must-see, and next year, I’ll be rolling through in style, hopefully in a Model A or even a Model T. See you on the coast, friends! 🚗🌊
