The past few weeks, I have been making time to read a few books written by southerners. Here is my suggested reading list:
- Broadcast, Bloopers & Boneheads: Behind the Scenes of Life in Media by Tamara Hinton. I actually met Tamara at theDouble Tree in Hattiesburg. I was there for my nephew’s soccer game but I made time to meet new people. There are some real funny stories about her co-workers who may be your newscaster now.
- Hectic Happiness by Gilda Werner Reed, Ph.D. I’m still in the midst of this book but it follows my aunt’s life as she got Polio from Lake Pontchartrain, raised 7 children, and received her doctorate in Psychology. I’m learning new things about my Aunt that I didn’t know.
- Remembering First Love by Jeanine Lunsford. This local writer attends my church and I tell you this book is a page-turner.
- Wanderful: The Modern Bohemian’s Guide to Traveling in Style by Andi Eaton. This New Orleans woman is very successful and has several books. This book takes you across America in style.
- Whiskey in A Tea Cup by Reese Witherspoon. See Tennessee life through Reese’s eyes and try some of the delicious recipes inside.
I hope you give these books a try. Personally, I fell in love with each one of them.
